SPAN Instruments KEM-X Socket Saver - 2.5", 3.5" & 4.5" Diameter

The SPAN patented KEM-X Socket Saver features an Elastomer Boot manufactured from either Buna N, Viton or EPDM that fits into the socket of the pressure gauge preventing the process media from entering the bourdon tube. This barrier seal prevents the bourdon tube from chemical corrosion, clogging or damage from freezing.  

During production, the gauge measuring system is fully evacuated under vacuum then back-filled with instrument oil ensuring a 100% fill. The elastomer boot is then inserted directly in to the socket of the gauge and held in place with a retaining ferrule. This combination of filling and isolation prevents any process media from entering the wetted parts of the pressure gauge. When the gauge is put into service the process media is pushed into the KEM-X Socket Saver, the diaphragm expands inside the socket an displaces the instrument oil that causes the gauge to read. However, the process media can not enter the bourdon tube preventing it from corroding, clog or freezing leading to permanent damage to the bourdon tube.
