The SPAN patented KEM-X Socket Saver features a BUNA-N Boot that fits into the socket of the pressure gauge that prevents water, mud and slurry from entering the bourdon tube. During production, the gauge measuring system is fully evacuated under vacuum then back-filled with instrument oil ensuring a 100% fill. The BUNA-N boot is then inserted directly in to the socket of the gauge and held in place with a retaining ferrule. This combination of filling and isolation prevents any water from entering the wetted parts of the pressure gauge which can freeze and permanently damage the bourdon tube. The SPAN KEM-X Socket Saver offers a cost effective and compact solution compared with conventional chemical seals.
