ATEX Certification For Pressure Gauges

Ashford Instrumentation can offer 63mm, 100mm and 160mm diameter pressure gauges as well as mechanical diaphragm gauges and differential pressure gauges that fulfill all the requirements of the ATEX Directive 94/9/EC. Generally speaking these gauges are available in all standard pressure ranges and dials are marked accordingly for ease of identification. Please note that ATEX Approved gauges are not generally available from stock and the need to meet the requirements of ATEX must be identified to us at time of enquiry.

The ATEX Directive is derived from the French "ATmosphere EXplosible" and specifies the technical requirements to be applied to equipment intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres which are likely to include offshore oil and gas platforms, chemical & petrochemical plants, mines, flour mills and other areas where an explosive atmosphere may be present.

In essence, there are three criteria when the ATEX Directive will apply to equipment supplied:

a) the equipment has its own source of ignition;
b) the equipment is intended for use in a potentially explosive atmosphere (air mixtures);
c) the equipment is located under normal atmospheric conditions.
